Here in Cincinnati, we are blessed with many singers,
instrumentalists, ministers, and directors who create,
support, and worship through music at Mt. Washington. 
Our repertoire spans the earliest known medieval music,
through the Classical and Romantic eras, to Contemporary Worship Music including selections from the Iona community, Taize,
and other parts of the world.

Our music enlivens our services, both worship and fellowship,
and is a part of every age group from children up. If you love
to sing, play an instrument, or ring handbells, we’d love to
talk with you about our music programs.  There are
opportunities to glorify God through music for everyone
at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church.

Vocal Choirs

CHANCEL CHOIR - This volunteer adult choir inspires the
worship life of the congregation through hymns and
anthems. They provide musical leadership for Sunday worship services and special occasion services from September through May. Once a year, they combine with an orchestra to offer a major work. This past year they presented Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass". In 2011, they will be offering Rutter's "Requiem" as a part of the Good Friday Service. They have sung in spaces throughout Cincinnati and just recently were honored to sing in Carnegie Hall in New York City. The Chancel Choir is open to all adults and rehearses on Thursday nights at 7:00pm.

SACRE VOCI - This adult chamber choir specializes in music of the baroque and renaissance, but occaisonally sings 20th/21st century music. They rehearse on Thursday nights after the Chancel Choir and provide anthems in worship monthly.

FESTIVAL CHOIR - This group is designed for those singers who cannot make weekly rehearsals with the Chancel Choir, but would like to offer their voices in worship. It is a combination of the Chancel Choir and members of the congregation. The Festival Choir sings occasionally in worship and rehearses 30 minutes before the service they will be offering music. CELEBRATION CHOIR - This youth choir is open to singers in
grades 7 through 12 and sings throughout the school year. They sing a variety of music in worship, from contemporary christian music arrangements to gospel songs and spirituals. They rehearse on Sunday nights at 5:00pm, before Youth Fellowship, and provide music in worship monthly.

BACH (Bringing A Cappella on High) - This youth chamber choir is open to high school singers and sings throughout the school year. They sing music in a variety of languages designed for small vocal ensembles. They rehearse at 4:30pm on Sunday nights before Celebration Choir.

CHILDREN'S CHOIRS and CHIMES - These two children's choirs
are grouped by age level and rehearse on Wednesday afternoons
as a part of the Super Wednesday program. Elementary
children who do not participate in Super Wednesday are
welcome to join the children's choir of their age group. This group also includes a program for children to play hand chimes as a part of the curriculum. Worship skills are developed through musical activities that often include instruments, voices, and drama. They provide anthems about once monthly throughout the school year.

SUMMER CHOIR - This multi-generational group provides anthems in worship during the months of June and July. They meet at 10:15am for rehearsal and sing at the 11:00am service.

Handbell Choirs

CARILLON RINGERS - Formed in January of 1994, this is
the church’s handbell choir for adults.  They ring in worship
about once a month, and at special services throughout the year. 
They have attended national conferences and sometimes ring
by request in the community. This past year, they were invited to ring at Music Hall along with members from the Omega Ringers. The handbell choir welcomes any adult who reads music!  Rehearsals
are held from 6:30-8PM on Sundays.

ALPHA RINGERS - Our junior high handbell choir rings
3 octaves of handbells and choir chimes.  Rehearsals are
held from 4-5 on Sunday afternoons.

Praise Bands and Ensembles

MWPC PRAISE BAND - This Praise Band glorifies God with their music at the 9:30am Morning Glory service. This is an all volunteer group that leads congregational singing and provides an offertory when they play in worship. They rehearse on Tuesday nights and offer their gifts once a month.

ConnXions PRAISE BAND - This Praise Band glorifies God with their music at the 5:30pm ConnXions service on Saturday nights. Volunteer members and the band Blind Faith come together to lead worship in song during ConnXions. They rehearse at 4:00pm before the Saturday night service.

PSALM 150 (resident brass ensemble) - This christian renasisance brass ensemble specializes in the music of Giovanni Gabrielli. They serve as an act of worship and praise to offer music in services and masses in the greater Cincinnati area. Recently they have played in the Boar's Head Festival at Christ Church Cathedral.

CHAPEL FOLK - This folk group rehearses weekly, singing with
guitars, keyboard and percussion accompaniment. They provide special music in worship and other gatherings. At this time
the group is at full capacity.
