  Session

It is the Session's responsibility and authority to delegate and
supervise the work of the Board of Deacons, all organizations,
and task forces in the congregation. The Committees of
The Session include:

  • Business and Finance - Administer the assets of the
    church, including the maintenance of the physical plant.
  • Christian Education - Responsible for program
    implementation of church school, adult seminars,
    confirmation class, junior and senior high education
    and fellowship, and Bible study.
  • Church and Society - Implements ongoing projects
    which focus our response to the needs of the community
    and the world.
  • Interpretation and Stewardship - Responsible for our
    annual commitment program of time, talent, and financial
    resources.
  • Membership and Evangelism - Responsible for the
    welcome of visitors and the integration of new members
    into the community of faith; encourages the growth
    of members.
  • Personnel - Responsible for the evaluation and
    continuing education of clergy and non-clergy staff.
  • PreSchool - Serves as liaison between the Session
    and the Presbyterian PreSchool.
  • Worship and Music - Reviews the worship and
    sacrament schedules; oversees the music ministry
    and choirs; coordinates worship and music themes.

The Board of Deacons

The word "deacon" comes from a Greek word meaning
"to serve, to minister." The Board of Deacons is
organized into the following committees:

  • Communication - Responsible for advertising and
    informing the congregation and community of the
    Deacons' projects and events.
  • Nurture and Care - Develops opportunities to nourish
    the relationships among members of MWPC.
  • Older Adult Ministry - Coordinates recognition,
    visitation and transportation of our homebound members.
  • Neighborhood Outreach - Oversees seasonal
    community need response projects.
  • Fund Raising - Responsible for generating dollars
    to fund the efforts of the board.
  • Worship - Recruits and trains ushers to offer a warm
    Sunday morning welcome; provides for the safety of the
    worshippers; prepares the elements of the Lord's Supper.
