The Alton Jenkins Lecture Series

Alton Jenkins was a long-time resident of Cincinnati and member of Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church. He was well known and loved for the classes he taught, which took a scholastic approach to Bible study and religious beliefs in general. Alton passionately sought a faith compatible with his scientific worldview. He enjoyed asking hard questions about what we believe and why. After his death in 2008, his wife Nancy, his family, and his friends created a memorial fund dedicated to continuing this pursuit of biblical understanding by establishing a lecture series.

We are excited to announce that MWPC, in cooperation with Christ Church Cathedral, has invited Dr. Marcus Borg, Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion and Culture at Oregon State University, fellow of the Jesus Seminar, and distinguished author to speak, September 28-30, 2012. In preparation for his lectures, classes will be offered in several different formats to familiarize us with his some of his thoughts and writings. We look forward to your participation!

Nov. 21, 2009   Ursula Goodenough ­­ - Internationally recognized cell biologist, author and lecturer presented two talks on religious naturalism.
Nov. 13, 2010  Walter Brueggeman – Renown scholar , McPheeters Professor of Old Testament, Columbia Theological Seminary and author of over 58 books and hundreds of articles, Walter Brueggemann will present newly developed lectures on hunger.
